The construction finish line is in sight for the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Arts building. While the Timashev Family Music Building opened in March 2022, the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Arts building is on track for a March 2023 opening. The $163.5 million Arts District aims to open Ohio State’s front door to the heart of the University District at 15th Avenue and High Street.

The Department of Theatre, Film and Media Arts building is about 85% complete. Construction progress includes:

  • Framing and hanging in Proscenium Theatre.
  • Acoustic panel installation in the Sound Stage.
  • Starting up hot water tanks.
  • Installation of pavers in the Arts District plaza.
  • Finishing hard lid ceilings in Thrust Theatre and the third and fourth floors.
  • Painting stairways and the lobby.
  • Thrust Theatre interior glazing.
  • Installation of shelving and countertops on lower level.
