Mars G. Fontana Laboratories
(Biomedical and Materials Engineering Complex)
The Mars G. Fontana Laboratories is phase I of the Biomedical and Materials Engineering Complex. The project aligns with Framework 2.0, and the university’s strategic plan, by enhancing both teaching and learning through improved facilities and support space. The $59.1 million Mars G. Fontana Laboratories renovates the former Koffolt Lab and Fontana Lab to create additional research, classroom and office space. Once complete, it will house the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Materials Sciences and Engineering. A complete renovation will occur in Koffolt and Fontana while a new 20,000 square foot addition will be constructed north of existing Koffolt/Fontana.
