Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Slideshow: Cannon Drive Relocation Phase 2

Construction on the Cannon Drive Relocation Phase 2 project is almost at the halfway point. At about 40% completion, between 30 and 50 workers make their way to the site daily aiming for a December 2024 completion date.

Crews are currently working on opening the Herrick intersection, preparing to demolish Drake Union and continuing work on the levee.

Safety remains top of mind for everyone on the site. Workers participate in daily ‘toolbox talks’ and weekly site safety discussions.

“Hard work will pay off in the future when people will be able to enjoy new roadways, a new traffic signal at the Cannon Dr. and Woody Hayes intersection, flood protection and all new greenspace west of Cannon,” said Tom Ekegren, project manager of Cannon Drive.

When complete, the project will rebuild the roadway between John Herrick Drive and Woody Hayes Drive at its current elevation and construct a certified ODNR floor protection levee.
