Overall work on the 1.9 million-square-foot inpatient tower is 70% complete, while exterior work on the façade is nearly 85% complete. The largest single facilities project ever undertaken at Ohio State includes up to 820 beds in private-room settings, large windows to enhance patient experience, safety and training for the next generation of health care providers. The tower is scheduled to open in early 2026.
Construction progress includes:
- Wrapping up canopy columns on the south entrance
- Finishing ceiling drywall installation on the ground-floor lobby
- Beginning terrazzo floor installation in second-floor cafeteria
- Finalizing installation of stone cladding on exterior columns
- Putting final touches on 10th floor mock-up patient room
Planning for the $1.9 billion inpatient tower is years in the making and advances Framework 2.0, the university’s long-term planning vision, as well as the Wexner Medical Center’s strategic plan.
