As crews prepare for lower-level turnover to Fit-up in mid-October, construction on The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Inpatient Hospital is 85% complete. Once final inspections are complete on the lower level, ground, and Level 1, the Fit-up crews will install furniture, medical equipment, technology, signage and art.

“This is when we really start to see ideas coming to life,” said Ragan Fallang, project manager of the inpatient hospital. “Sometimes during the early stages of construction, it’s hard to see the vision. But now we’re preparing to install technology and furniture on the lower levels and things are really taking shape.”

    Construction progress includes:

    • Crews are completing installation of the large revolving door in the lobby on the ground level.
    • Installing wood panels under the escalators to prepare for a coffee shop area underneath.
    • Working on installing glass and ceilings to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) concourse.
    • Completing the installation of a large Block O in the lobby.
    • Completing rough-ins on level 24.

Scheduled to open in early 2026, the 1.9 million square foot inpatient hospital includes up to 820 beds in private-room settings, state-of-the-art diagnostic, treatment and inpatient service areas, imaging, operating rooms, and critical care and medical/surgical beds, among other details.
