The CFAES Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory’s Multispecies Animal Learning Center (MALC) facility is coming to life as crews have begun installation of electrical conduits in the mezzanine area as well as plumbing for restrooms. Next, they’re preparing to pour concrete slabs for the floor base, followed by interior partitions and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in.

The project constructs a 100,000 square-foot facility that provides opportunities in teaching, research and community engagement. The $58.2 million project will consist of an interconnected series of barns housing different species which will include swine, equine, poultry and ruminants. MALC replaces aging storm and animal waste management infrastructure as well as provides new gas, electric and water utilities to the project site.
