Signs of progress are visible on the construction site for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Outpatient Care West Campus. Located within the Innovation District, south of the Kenny and Carmack roads intersection, the 385,000 square foot cancer-focused facility will include central Ohio’s first proton therapy treatment facility in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Construction began in July 2020 and below is a summary of current progress:
- Crews placed rebar on the 640-space parking garage and columns are forming as the garage rises out of the ground, with three of the five floors now visible.
- Thanks to a recent concrete pour within the future proton therapy center, the proton vault walls are now emerging above ground.
- Crews will complete stair towers in February and prepare to start steel work in March.
The project will include outpatient operating rooms, interventional radiology rooms, extended recovery unit, pre-anesthesia center, a diagnostic imaging center, retail pharmacy, hematology clinic, genitourinary (GU) clinic, infusion and medical office and support spaces. The outpatient care center and garage will open in Summer 2023 with the proton center scheduled to open in fall 2023.
