The Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts is substantially complete with construction, meaning only final touchups are being made as the facility is now open for programming. The five-floor building features new state-of-the-art performance areas, including a 450-seat proscenium theatre and black box theatre, Multipurpose Theatre Lab for new and experimental productions, studios for scenic, costume, lighting and sound design, sound stages and editing suites.
The building is part of a larger $165.3 million Arts District project that also included the Timashev Family Music Building, which opened in 2022. The Arts District realized long-term plans to open Ohio State’s front door to the heart of the University District at 15th Avenue and High Street. The project also included work to enhance roadway and pedestrian access.
