A renovation to the first floor of Newton Hall is on track to open by June 2023. Crews are sprucing up 12,300 square feet on the first floor that will include flexible classrooms, informal learning spaces, offices and the new Center for Well-being and Prevention at the College of Nursing. The new center will offer health coaching, counseling and telehealth services. It will also serve as the new home of Buckeye Wellness and will offer strength and cardio training, group physical activity classes and cardiovascular screenings through the Million Hearts® program.
This portion of work is actually Phase II, following the completion of Jane E. Heminger Hall, which opened in August 2022.
On balance, the $31.7 million project supports the College of Nursing’s vision to be the world’s leader in thinking and achieving the impossible to transform health and improve lives.
Construction progress on the Newton Hall first floor renovation includes:
- Demolition and window installation has been completed.
- Construction crews are working on framing walls and the installation of new floors.
- Work continues on an auditorium, which is designed to encourage more teamwork, collaboration and dynamic group learning.
- Landscaping is substantially complete with a few trees on Neil Avenue still to be planted.
