Located at the Hamilton Quarter mixed-use development along state Route 161, the estimated 250,000-square-foot facility will consist of a medical office building and an ambulatory surgery center, which houses surgery, endoscopy, physical therapy and rehabilitation, imaging, urgent care, retail pharmacy and sterilization operations, among others.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Outpatient Care New Albany is beginning to take shape. The facility includes two sections, a five-story medical office building and a two-story ambulatory surgical center.

To date, concrete has been poured for floors two through five of the medical office building space. Construction crews are preparing the first floor slab on grade and expect a concrete pour in late February. The team is 90% complete with plumbing and electric underground rough-in at the first floor.

Columbus Business First reports that Ohio State has approved a $2.37 billion 5-year capital plan to support Framework 2.0 and the university's strategic plan. It is an historic number for Ohio State as the university delivers on major projects identified in the campus master plan.

As reported by the outlet, classroom and laboratory buildings make up 47% of the new projects, and 39% are for OSU Wexner Medical Center.

“That’s really a healthy balance,” said Jay Kasey, Ohio State's senior vice president in the Office of Administration and Planning.

The first of four huge outpatient complexes Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center is planning for its biggest-ever suburban expansion and the university's west campus will cost $138 million to design and build, according to documents released Tuesday.

The 244,000-square-foot, five-story medical office would open in just over two years at Hamilton Road and Rte. 161 in northeast Columbus near New Albany. Medical center officials are seeking the final $136 million to complete the project from medical center and university trustees this week.
