As another outpatient care center gets approved for construction and new academic and research projects break ground, we kick off season 3 of the City of Ohio State Podcast with Kristin Poldemann, the associate vice president of Facilities Design and Construction to talk about current projects across campus. 

The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center third and final phase is nearing completion as work concludes on the 120,000-square-foot renovation of Hamilton Hall. The project benefits colleges including medicine, dentistry, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, public health and veterinary medicine, and strengthens the interdisciplinary curriculum of Ohio State. The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center is nearing the completion finish line as Hamilton Hall Phase III is scheduled to open in February 2024. Anatomy Phase I opened in January 2022 and Classroom Phase II opened in June 2023. Check out the time lapse video to view construction progress on the multiphase $157.3 million project.

The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center is about 85% complete with Hamilton Hall Phase III construction. Anatomy Phase I opened in January 2022 and Classroom Phase II opened in June 2023. In total, the $157.3 million project includes a 120,000-square-foot renovation of Hamilton Hall and construction of a new 100,000-square-foot building featuring flexible facilities to serve multiple disciplines.

Construction progress on Hamilton Hall Phase III includes:

Phase 3 of construction on the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center is nearing 60% complete. This third and final phase includes a 120,000-square-foot renovation of Hamilton Hall, which is poised for completion in March 2024. The Classroom Wing, Phase 2, is on track for a move-in date of mid-July. The Anatomy Wing, Phase 1, opened in January 2022.

Construction progress includes:

The Classroom Wing, Phase 2 of the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center, is nearing the finish line with final inspections scheduled for May 2023 and a move-in date of mid-July.  The renovation of Hamilton Hall, Phase 3, is scheduled to open in January 2024. The Anatomy Wing, Phase 1, opened in January 2022. The $155.9 million project includes a 120,000-square foot renovation of Hamilton Hall and construction of over a 100,000-square-feet of new space.

Construction progress includes:

Exterior framing of the classroom wing phase is complete, while masonry as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) rough-in continue. Demolition inside Hamilton Hall has wrapped up and foundation work has begun on the forum. The anatomy wing opened in January 2022.The classroom wing phase is scheduled to open in June 2023 and Hamilton renovation phase in January 2024.

The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center is 50% complete. The anatomy wing opened in January 2022. Steel installation continues as part of the classroom wing phase, and parts of Hamilton Hall are being prepared for demolition in order to expand the current building footprint. When complete, the project will create a collaborative campus for interprofessional education throughout the Health Sciences.

The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center is 30% complete - with the phase I anatomy wing scheduled to open in January 2022 and two additional phases also progressing.
