Kristin Poldemann has been named one of the most influential leaders in Columbus as part of the Columbus Business First Power
Work on the Wexner Medical Center Inpatient Hospital is progressing with deep foundations being installed along the east edge of the site and basement concrete walls under construction. Excavation for the underground tunnel that will extend from the Inpatient Hospital to 12th Avenue is wrapping up in preparation for concrete pours that will form the tunnel.
Demolition of the above ground portion of the North and South Cannon Garages was completed in early March 2021. The new Inpatient Hospital foundation work continues upward, with the first structural deck concrete pour occurring March 4. Construction on the 1.9 million-square-feet hospital began in fall 2020 and is the largest single facilities project ever undertaken at Ohio State.
Healthcare Design Magazine recently featured the Wexner Medical Center's new Inpatient Hospital project. The 1.9 million-square-foot, 26-story inpatient tower is the single-largest construction project in Ohio State's history. The bed tower is slated to open in early 2026.
Construction progress continues on the New Inpatient Hospital, which will provide up to 820 beds in private-room settings to elevate patient-centered care, safety and training for the next generation of physicians.
