The Columbus Dispatch recently reported on the opening of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Central Sterile Supply facility. As reported, the first freestanding facility in Ohio dedicated to cleaning surgical equipment opened in February 2021.
Demolition of the above ground portion of the North and South Cannon Garages was completed in early March 2021. The new Inpatient Hospital foundation work continues upward, with the first structural deck concrete pour occurring March 4. Construction on the 1.9 million-square-feet hospital began in fall 2020 and is the largest single facilities project ever undertaken at Ohio State.
Healthcare Design Magazine recently featured the Wexner Medical Center's new Inpatient Hospital project. The 1.9 million-square-foot, 26-story inpatient tower is the single-largest construction project in Ohio State's history. The bed tower is slated to open in early 2026.
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center opened the first freestanding sterile processing facility in Ohio. The new Central Sterile Supply facility will reprocess and sterilize surgical instrumentation and allocate sterile supplies for Ohio State Wexner Medical Center hospitals and outpatient care centers throughout central Ohio.
Steel rises to the sky as progress continues on the Outpatient Care Dublin site. The new facility is located just south of and visible from State Route 33. Construction on the 272,000-square-foot building began summer 2020. Program offerings will include ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, primary care, specialty medical and surgical clinics and related support spaces.
